Just like with labels, reports in INEXTIA are not fixed. The layout can be customized as needed.
The report is designed by creating a Microsoft Word file, which then serves as the template for the report.
In this way, all of Word's various design functions can be utilized, and it also allows you to see how the report will look when printed.
Tags
To determine where data should be placed in the report, INEXTIA uses tags. When the "Print" button is clicked in INEXTIA, it opens the template, scans it for tags, and wherever it finds a tag it recognizes, the tag is replaced with data from the job or purchase order.
The different tags are inserted into Microsoft Word from the "Developer" tab.
If you haven’t activated the tab, you can do so in the following way.
- Right-click on the menu bar
- Select "Customize Ribbon"
- Check the box for "Developer."
- Click "OK."
In the example beneath, it is the standard template that is open.
Every tag in the template is inserted in the following way.
- Place the cursor where the tag should be inserted.
- Select "Plain Text Content Control."
Note: If it's the CompanyLogo tag, select "Picture Content Control." - Select "Design Mode."
- Select "Properties."
Under Properties, insert the tag.
- Fill in with the correct tag ID.
- Select "OK."
Tags for Lists
When INEXTIA needs to insert a list of data into the report, such as job groups, resources, or items linked to the job, it must be inserted as tables.
The table must be inserted with two rows.
In the top row, INEXTIA expects the headers to be placed.
In the bottom row, INEXTIA expects the data to be inserted.
When it processes the associated data, it uses the bottom row to determine how the data should be placed and repeats this for each object in the list.
To inform INEXTIA about which list it concerns, a bookmark is inserted around the entire table.
In the example above, the bookmark for the job group list is shown.
In the bottom row, two tags from the job group list are inserted in the same way as other tags are inserted.
All available tags are listed in these articles: Job, Purchase, and Job List.
Select the right report type
When the template gets inserted into INEXTIA via Options >Dynamic Reports,
It is import that the template gets assigned the correct "Report Type",
Which is either Job, Job List or Purchase Order.
This tells INEXTIA, which tags it should look for, and where it should find the values that should be inserted.
