Note: Master Data is a module that can be purchased for INEXTIA.
The Master Data module allows for the creation of all the data fields needed for components, enabling INEXTIA to serve as the primary database for retrieving technical information about the company's equipment.
The module expands the standard functionality for modifying layouts, allowing not only hiding or rearranging existing cards* but also creating new cards with new fields.
* Cards refer to the groupings (rectangular boxes) present on all detail screens.
^This is a card
Since this functionality is an extension of layout modification, this article assumes that you have read the article "Change Layout."
Edit screen layout
The additional master data fields are added to the component screen view by editing the screen layout.
There are now two additional buttons available: "New Card" and "Move Fields."
New card
To create new fields, one or more new cards must first be created where the fields can be added.
When the "New Card" button is clicked, the following screen opens.
First, you specify the name of the card.
In the menu at the top, you’ll find the different field types that can be added to the card:
- INPUT FIELD – Single-line text field.
- INPUT FIELD (MULTI-LINE) – Multi-line text field.
- NUMBER – Numeric field (only numbers).
- DROPDOWN MENU – Selection from a list.
- DATE PICKER – Date field.
- CHECKBOX – Checkbox.
When one of the field types is selected, the field is added to the card and highlighted, as shown below.
The different types have slightly different properties, but common to all of them are:
- A name must be assigned to the field.
- You can set whether the field is required (must the field be filled out when a component is created).
- Type-specific properties can be configured at the bottom.
- The field can be moved.
- The field can be deleted.
Move field
A field is moved by clicking and dragging the 6 dots.
The yellow highlight shows where the field will be moved.
If dragged left or right, fields can be arranged in columns.
Dropdown Menu
For the field type "Dropdown Menu", the various options for the list are added by entering lines at the bottom.
Delete Card or Field
An entire card can be deleted by clicking on the gear icon and selecting "Delete."
A field is deleted by editing a card and selecting delete (as described earlier under "New Card").
Note: If a field or an entire card is deleted, all data recorded in the field(s) will also be deleted.
Move Fields Between Cards
If a field needs to be moved from one card to another, it is important not to delete the field (as this will also delete the data). Instead, the "Move Fields" function should be used.
Below, you select the two cards between which the fields should be moved.
(INEXTIA's standard cards cannot be selected).
Next, the field is moved from one card to the other by clicking and dragging the 6 dots.
It’s a good idea to edit the card after the field has been moved to ensure the layout still looks appropriate.
Save
All changes are only saved when the "Save" button is clicked.
Columns and Filters
When new fields are added, they can be selected as columns and filters in the component overview, just like the standard fields.
