Note: Show Job List on a map is part of the Map module, which can be purchased as an add-on for INEXTIA.
The Map module provides a geographical overview of where different jobs are located.
The module is especially valuable for companies that need to carry out tasks across a wide area, such as utility companies, ports, and other organizations that maintain infrastructure. It shows the exact location of the job and helps save transport time by providing an overview of other jobs in the same area and their distance.
The Map module is available in both INEXTIA and the app.
Before jobs can be shown on a map, GPS coordinates must be registered on the component or the job. See more about how to do this in this article.
The Job List as a map in INEXTIA
In INEXTIA the map view is one of four ways to display the Job List.
In this view the jobs are represented as markers on a map.
Similarly to the other three ways to display the Job List, the appearance of the job (in this case the marker) changes depending on the state of the job:
- Planned, yellow with a white circle inside.
- Overdue, red with a white circle inside.
- Active, can both be planned or overdue, i.e. yellow or red respectively, but has a play icon inside.
- Collection, jobs in close vicinity, yellow if none of the jobs are overdue, but if one job is, it will be red.
You can zoom in to see the jobs separately.
Standard behavior from Google Maps is included in the map view, which means it is possible to zoom, drag the map, switch between Map and Satellite as well as use Street View.
A job on the Job List will not show on the map if it does not have GPS coordinates on Job or Component. In that case it will be shown in the Jobs without GPS coordinates list in the upper left corner of the map.
When you highlight a job, the same functions are available for the job as with the other displays in the top bar, i.e. activate, finalize, postpone, etc.
Show Job List on a map in app
In the app, the Job List can be shown on a map by clicking on the Map Icon around the upper right corner. In order to see the option, a Job List first has to be selected.
The map in the app has the same functionality as from Google Maps similarly to the map in INEXTIA.
However, unlike how the map is an incorporated part of the Job List in INEXTIA, in the app it is purely used as a geographical visualization. This means you cannot open the job through the map in the app, so activation and finalization has to be done by selecting the job on the list before entering the map.
Jobs nearby your location
An advantage to using the app, is that it runs from a device, phone or tablet, which can access your location. The app uses this information to sort the jobs according to nearest distance to you.
When the button Nearby is clicked, the app will go through all the GPS coordinates jobs within the available Job Lists and sort them according to proximity.
A couple of things are important to take note of when looking at nearby Jobs:
- Under every job the distance from you is written.
- It is possible to set the proximity distance as to limit the number of results.
Jobs in the Nearby list acts just like regular jobs selected through the Job List in the app.
Navigate to the job
The app can also take advantage of navigation through the phone or tablet to help reach the location. On the job screen select Coordinates.
This opens op the coordinates for both the job and the component, where each individually can be selected to be shown on a map.
Clicking on either (1) Show the Job on a map or (2) Show the component on a map opens the default application for Maps on your device, e.g. Google Maps.
From here the navigation to the location can be started through the default map application, in this case Google Maps.
